False advertising and no customer service management to speak to.
My wife and I have been strong supporters of Gardner White for many years spending around $20,000.00 or so. However we are extremely stressed out about our recent encounter with this company and all of the people involved this time.
We received a sale advertisement in the mail April 2, 2024 advertising 100 rooms under $1,000.00. We saw a kitchen table and chairs we liked, so I called and asked a salesman at the Shelby Twp. store if they had this set on their floor so we could come and look at it in person. He stated they did, so my wife went to that store the next day, April 3, 2024.
They showed her the set, but they didn't know anything about the advertisement or the pricing. We showed them the advertisement but they said they can't find anything regarding it in their system. Therefore they said they couldn't honor it, but offered to sell the set at $200.00 higher than the advertisement showed.
I then tried to contact Gardner White's Corporate office. This turned out to be a Stressful hour and one half of wasted time(mine).
The phone numbers (3) I found on the internet or from the store personnel would not let me speak to a live person. Their Chat Robot online didn't respond to my question I typed into the chat.
Some how I did finally reach a live person that I believe works in the Corporate customer service area. However after being on the phone with her for 20 some minutes she could help me and told me she had to transfer me to the store we were just at.
I asked to speak to her manager but she told me there was none available and there was nothing more she could do for me.
This is the worst customer service experience I have ever received in my entire life. I've been in the customer service industry for over 50 years and I can tell you if this is the level and concern for Customer Satisfaction this company is satisfied providing,I sincerely hope they go out of business as they don't seem to care about Customer Satisfaction!

My name is Edward McKinnon and my wife name is Fannie. We purchased furniture at your Rochester Hills Michigan location on March 13, 2024.
We paid in full and was told our delivery date would be March 18, 2024. Since then we have been given three more dates for when the furniture will arrive at the warehouse. Its been almost 1 1/2 months since order. Why give out a delivery date if you are uncertain when the delivery will happen?
Why not tell the customer up front that the waiting period could be 45 days or more? They delivered one piece of a three piece furniture set. I threw out my old furniture with the expectation the new furniture would arrive within days. This is unacceptable and I think i should receive some type of discount or something additional to my order.
My customer # is 26435****. My salesperson who we initially made the purchased with is Patrick Durkin, Boris Palincas. Ive made several attempts to confirm a delivery date but only to hear another delayed date. Hopefully you can resolve this matter because it is very frustrating.

I bought four pieces of furniture there . I was told that they would deliver in three weeks in the middle of July .
I went back asked what was going on and made sure twice that they had my number right. For the delivery I gave them my roommates number. I asked twice to make sure they had it. At the end of September I called and asked them what was up .
I got a lecture on the phone from the woman I spoke about checking my text. They said they texted me in the middle of the month and I missed my 24 hour window. When I went to the store and asked in person they told me they had used the number I told them to remove because my roommate is legally blind and I didnt want to miss it. I got so upset between being lied to and given the run around.
I checked my roommates phone there were no text or voice messages. I have to delete them for him. Then last I finally wanted to try to recline the lazy boy I bought and ended up with my head on the floor and my feet in the air. I bought the warranty and now no one can come out for 8 days.
I was very detailed when buying the chair I told them I had 7 operations on one hip and I couldnt afford anything going wrong, In i other words I asked if it was a safe chair and was rated for my height and weight . I dont know how much better I could have put it. I am lucky that I am not writing this from a hospital room having my hip put back in place. Drive by this store or do doughnuts in the huge parking lot.
Do go in and buy anything . The picture is of my order number.

My Husband went into the Taylor,MI store on the way home to get the pan. The lady told him they only give theirs out in the morning and to come back tomorrow.
She also told him it would probably be a long line tomorrow. She refused to give him one and the flyer said while supplies last.I guess if you work in the morning you miss out.The store at 22035 Eureka road in Taylor,MI
Preferred solution: A Calphalon Pan with lid that was advertised for free from December 8-11.

Educate people
Went in to Gardner white on the east side. I was looking for
Complete furniture for an apartment.
I was looking at the prices on all the furniture on the floor and it was all WAY over priced. I ended up going to Bobs furniture and got what I wanted at reasonable prices.

I bought mattress 9/11/2022 I paid it off...
I bought mattress 9/11/2022 I paid it off 2/8/2023 I was told if I paid it off in short amount of time I would receive a $300.00 dollar gift card I have yet receive it I have reached out to the sales rep have not gotten a answer I hope this was not a scam just to buy a mattress PLEASE HELP I just wonder if I should buy furniture again from Gardner White Jennifer Bennis
Service person never showed up
Van was parked in my parking lot, but service person never came to my apartment, never checked with the office in my building and didnt call me. I have written several of these comments to your service department this morning and havent had any response. TERRIBLE service!!!

Horrible deep rips in 3 year old sectional cushion
We ordered a replacement cushion and were assured they had one. 8 weeks later nothing so we call customer service and were placed on a long hold then disconnected.
We call back and were told it takes 8 weeks and the girl didnt even check even though I asked her to. Less than a week later they call and tell us there is no cushion and there is nothing they can do.

Disappointed
Very disappointed. Went in to buy a mattress at the Canton store and was sold an extra firm after telling them that one of us has a bad hip and I sleep on my back so he recommended extra firm.
Was told if we were not happy with it after 60 days we could exchange it one time. So we were not happy with it and were told by two others there that they could not believe the person would have recommended an extra firm in the first place. So after trying many others we decided on Luxury firm (medium). And they put the paper work in and said expect a call the next day to set up delivery.
Great! Well no call the next day so we called back day after that. And they said we cant do the exchange unless we pay a restock fee and another free costing to 600ish dollars. NO ONE, out of Three people told us about that let alone told us we were all set and will set up delivery.
Also we should have never been sold that extra firm in the first place. So if we would have gotten the right bed the first time we would not have to return it and pay that fee.
Just bought a new home and bought a couch and a bed from Gardener white. Will NOT be buying anything else there ever again.

The staff argued and fought with me. They belittled me and did not care.
They are very low class people that are employed there. They have no regard to any of their customers and do not care if you come back. I had a bad experience with a furniture exchange and not only were they horrible in service, but they charged me a 25% restock fee.
Also, the furniture quality is very poor. I will never shop there again.

We are sending this letter to you prayerfully, in hopes to get our problem resolved. Ms.
Rachel, we are residents of a beautiful subdivision in Macomb. October 2021, we decided to purchase furniture for our bedroom after not having any for four months. Of course, it was a no brainer to shop and make our selection at Gardner White located at 14055 Hall Rd. in Shelby Township.
As Michiganders, we value the long-standing fact of Gardner White being in existence for over 100 years and we believe in the excellent quality of the furniture you provide for families to purchase.
We bought a bed with a headboard and footboard, an eight-drawer dresser with a mirror, a six-drawer vanity with a mirror, and a mattress. First, we received the bed, mattress, and dresser. We were told that the vanity was on back order. We were okay with that news and figured we would have everything in time for Christmas.
Next, we received the sad news that it would arrive in January. Saddened, we patiently waited. Then we were told we would not receive the rest of the vanity until March. We were starting to get upset; however, we remained patient and even went back to the store to put the nightstands in the layaway that went with the set.
On May 22nd, part of the vanity was delivered. We couldnt understand why only part of the vanity was in stock. The delivery man put the huge box that contained our vanity against the wall of our bedroom because it could not be assembled without all the pieces being there. Even though Ive hit my foot on that large box a few times, I remained patient with the whole situation.
We received another email stating we would have it by mid-July. At that point we went into the store to see if we could speak to a manager. The receptionist was so kind and tried to offer us hope. She was so nice, we paid all but about $130.00 on the balance of the nightstands.
We were hopeful that maybe paying on the layaway would prompt the store to see that we really wanted the entire set. Finally, on July 15th, we received an email that stated we would not get the rest of our order until August 7th.
So, we made a purchase in October and is still waiting on the completed order in July. This makes no sense. Today, Sloan went into the store and asked to speak with a manager to ask for a refund.
He was told that someone would be out on Tuesday to assess the furniture then a decision would be made about a refund. I was hoping and praying that the manager would have looked at the dates of this great inconvenience and disappointment and call every Gardner White on the planet to find our missing items and apologize for our horrible experience. That did not happen.
I am reaching out to you Ms. Rachel because I know as a fourth generation, dedicated to your familys business, this is appalling and unbelievable.
I am in tears as I am writing to you because I cant believe this has been my experience with Gardner White. Please do something Ms.
Rachel. Please address this nightmare.

You say you're going to call you in the morning the night before didn't call I had to. Talk to manager he know nothing. Called corporate they told me that they would give me a $50 gift card lied.

They white glove delivered dirty broken furniture.
I paid for white glove delivery. They delivered dirty pre-built, scratched furniture to my house.
The driver has 28 more deliveries that day and had no room on the truck for returned merchandise.
Garner White glove delivery is a joke compared to Macy's, their customer service is out right rude, the store manager is never available. They will NOT refund the delivery fee of $149.00, additionally they want a 25% restocking fee to return the goods.

I want to return my order
I ordered a special order sectional on 8/11/21. It was delivered on 12/3/21.
The pieces don't line up AND there is no way to connect 2 of the 3 pieces as the cuts in the fabric for the sectional clips that were provided don't line up. Off by several inches. Additionally, the back of 2 of the pieces don't line up and there is a gap. A technician was sent to inspect and assess.
The technician determined that one of the pieces need to be re-ordered. When the new section arrived in May 2022, it was identical (and incorrect) to the first piece. Another appointment was made to talk to a technician on the phone and do a "virtual" inspection/visit at the end of June 2022. This technician indicated that they would send someone out who could connect the pieces underneath, thus negating the connections that are under the cushions.
He also indicated that my floor in my home must be not level and that they would adjust the legs on the furniture to address the second problem of the gap on the back of 2 of the adjoining pieces. My floor is level. This couch was a special order that cost close to $2,800 ( I did by the 4 year warranty). I just want to return this sectional.
I'm being told that there are no returns on special orders.
However, it wasn't what I ordered. I ordered a beautiful sofa/sectional and this is far from it.

bought $5000 worth of furniture in end of oct early november-not financed, it is now june 8th i still havnt seen my dining table chairs. 3 weeks ago i had enough and called and complained, they sent someone out to value my table to see if i could exchange it, it got approved.
Went to the hall road location to look for an exchange and the salesman kevin said dont get a new table we can have your chairs at the house tomorrow. took a day off to make sure id be there for delivery-still have the voicemail saying they would be coming. never showed up. I called and asked for a manager i got lakesha on the phone, she had no idea why he said we would be getting them next day, they arent in stock, must have been a computer error, is there anything else i can do for you?
I said you have done nothing no help and she laughed at me on the phone- Gardner white apparently trains managers to laugh at complaining customers.
I emailed a complaint to corporate exactly 2 weeks ago today, still havnt heard from them. fox 2 problem solvers needs to do a story on this, i see reviews here im not the only one getting lied to, 7 months without chairs at my dining table when the salesman said 1 month.
