Sometime in early March my wife & I decided to stop in Gardner-White (Southfield Store) and look at possibly replacing some furniture in our home (4-5 weeks prior to Easter). After visiting competitors like Art Van (bad experience there too) & Scott Schuptrine (spelling), we decided to give Gardner-White a shot with our business.

We bought a couch, chair & ottoman for more than $2,000...mind you we could have (should have) gone ANY WHERE including Ethan Allen and spent more money but we decided to give Gardner-White a chance. We ordered & paid for the furniture (next day delivery boasted about on TV is not an option) & were told by our sales woman it would be a couple of weeks & she would call me when the furniture came in. Two weeks passed and soon became 3 weeks when I got a robo call that said delivery was scheduled for (date)...That date came & I waited for no one to ever show. My sales woman called and apologized because apparently that robo-call was not supposed to happen.

I finally got a real delivery date for the back ordered furniture from our sales woman & I waited until the last 4 minutes of the 3-4 hour window that they gave me for delivery. When our furniture arrived the day before Easter & nearly 4 weeks AFTER we purchased the merchandise it arrived missing the CHAIR! The drivers were extremely apologetic and stated that we were lucky to get the right merchandise as other customers had been delivered the wrong products! Upset, I drove to the store to speak to a store manager who was not available.

I complained to the sales assistant who apologized and eventually scheduled delivery of the back ordered chair. To help remedy the poor experience, I agreed to accept a Target Gift Card from Gardner-White which would be delivered (promised) when the chair came to my home. Well...you guessed it!!! Not only did the chair come to my home WITHOUT the gift card but I was told that the gift card was "on back order"!!!

I looked around to see if there was a hidden camera because I must be getting "Punk'd"!?! I called the store and ask to speak to a manager (AGAIN) and I am told that "They are on a lunch break..." Lunch break? Both or all of them are on lunch at the same time (after 5pm)??? Funny how every time I asked to speak to a manager they were never available but when I had money in hand they were there to thank us for our business!!!

I called a District Manager (who had just left for the weekend...it was just 5:09pm on a Friday so...) OH the second set of delivery guys who told me the gift card was on back order told me that many customers are upset and have complained. This is BAD business and never again will they see my money.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Preferred solution: Price reduction.
